Americas Cup - Bermuda 2017

35th America’s Cup in June 2017, for the first time, this premier event will take place in Bermuda, an island founded on a legacy of sailing.
Since that first race in 1851 off the southern coast of England, the America's Cup has been hosted by only eight destinations. As part of this distinguished group, Bermuda will offer an unprecedented location for this international event, enhanced by the Island's maritime heritage and culture of hospitality.

Event will be held in Bermuda’s Great Sound, a magnificent natural bay, with beautiful surrounding of islands and beaches, where steady ocean breezes mix with protected waters that are flat and fast, making it just possibly the best sailing venue on the planet, with crystal blue waters and pink-sand beaches that create a stunning backdrop for the America's Cup. New America’s Cup village will be built in the South Basin of the Royal Naval Dockyard; the Island will offer top experience for sailing teams and spectators from around the world.
Restoration in the Dockyard's South Basin will incorporate state-of-the-art facilities for the teams as well as a first-ever "pit row" fan experience for the public.
Onshore hospitality facilities will provide views of the entire race course in Bermuda's Great Sound. On the water, spectators will have an unprecedented experience, with ample provision for large yachts and spectator vessels.

America’s Cup World Series race event in October 16-18, 2015 will be also hosted by Bermuda. The World Series is the first stage of competition when all of the America’s Cup teams compete hoping to qualify for the Finals in 2017.

Sailing legacy is integrated in the history of Bermuda’s islands. Bermuda’s islands were founded in 1609 by the surviving sailors of the shipwrecked Sea Venture, and sailing is part of everyday life. In fact, Bermudians invented the Bermuda rig, which is still used in 95% of all sailing yachts today.

Bermuda specializes in hosting, one of many reasons why these Islands are the perfect venue for the 35th America's Cup event.
