Whenever you charter a boat, charter companies will require you to pay a security deposit. Security deposit is amount by which you are responsible to compensate any damage caused by negligence, intentional or as a result of poor management of the boat, which occurred during the boat rental.

Security deposit is paid before arrival in cash, the amount of pre-booking by credit card or non-return insurance payment that replaces the deposit. The deposit covers damages caused on the boat or boat equipment or loss of equipment parts. If you cause damage, you are responsible up to the amount of security deposit and if the damage is less than incurred, during check out remaining funds will be returned. If you return undamaged boat back to the marina, the full amount of deposit will be returned. If you rent a boat with skipper, skipper is responsible for all damages caused by maneuvering, mooring or anchoring of boat, but is not responsible for damages caused by guests, e.g. on the dinghy, below deck or damaging any parts of equipment.

Keep in mind that the amount of security deposit is the maximum amount by which you can be charged for any damage. All that exceeds that amount will be covered by casco insurance. In the event of theft on board (outboard engine or dinghy are most often on theft), do not forget to report theft to the nearest police station.

We wish you good sailing and calm seas...
