Charter a boat with or without crew

The two most common ways of boat charter are with or without crew. Crewed charter includes skipper and hostess, or just skipper, may include cook, etc. depending on your preference. If you haven’t a valid skipper's license, you have to rent a boat with crew or skipper. If you own a skipper license and have experience in managing the boat, then you can rent a boat without a skipper and take hostess or cook on board.

If you decide for sailing in a new destination, we recommend you to rent a boat with crew/skipper. Skipper will not just manage the boat and watch out for your safety, but will share with you their knowledge about destination, traditions and discover many useful sailing tips and tricks.

Skipper duties include performing technical and operational actions such as supplying of vessel with fuel, water and electricity, trimming the sails, anchoring and mooring of boat in bays and marinas, monitoring navigational instruments and maintaining cleanliness of deck and cockpit. Skipper daily prepares and edits sailing itineraries depending on your preference and also depending on weather conditions at the time. Highly professional skippers will be your local guides who will instruct you and show you the most beautiful places, islands, bays and beaches on the coast and provide you useful information and tips regarding shopping, gastronomy and tourist attractions.

Besides the skipper, for your sailing you can hire hostess. Hostess is a crew member who will do best to make your vacation comfortable and relaxed. Hostess will warmly welcome you, show you all the boats rooms and help you to accommodate and settle in. Hostess is in charge for daily food purchases, cooking, dishwashing, bed making and maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of toilets and showers. Also, the task of hostess is preparing and serving of breakfast and dinner at the agreed time. However, the hostess is not a professional cook who prepares complicated meals, but according to your wishes will prepare healthy, simple and delicious meals and introduces you with local Dalmatian cuisine. Hostess will also provide useful information, recommend you the best restaurants on the coast and islands and provide tips about famous attractions and cultural sites.

Skipper and hostess are like your family members, so beside accommodation you have to provide them a food. You can take them with you to restaurants, leave them every day a certain sum of money needed for daily meals (usually around 20-30 € per crew member) or provide a sufficient amount of food on the boat so they could be able to prepare own meals. Everything is matter of agreement between you and skipper / hostess.

Keep in mind that crew members are entitled, and deserve, their daily break after tasks performing. Skipper and hostess prices aren’t included in the final price of the charter, but are paid separately. Skipper prices usually range from 120 € to 180 € + meals per day, while the hostess prices range from 100 € to 130 € per day + food.

We wish you good sailing and calm seas...
