Bol is a town and municipality on the south side of the island at the foot of Vidova gora - the island's highest peak (778m), the oldest place on the island. The history of this tourist town dates back to the Neolithic when it was inhabited by pre-Indo nations, and Bol was first mentioned in 1184 in the document Povaljska listina. Bol has about 1,600 inhabitants who are mainly engaged in tourism and hospitality industry. The town also has several restaurants, taverns, cafes, shops, souvenir shops, post office ... The thing that Bol is the most famous for is beach Zlatni rat, one of the most beautiful Croatian beaches.
Zlatni rat is a well-known beach, one of the biggest and most beautiful natural attractions of Bol and the whole Adriatic. The beach was formed by depositing a fine golden pebble around an underwater reef, forming a cape (rat) long nearly thousand meters, tapping by crystal clear sea. It is interesting that the peak of the Zlatni rat constantly changes its shape depending on waves and sea currents. Due to the favorable winds blowing, Zlatni rat is an ideal location for lovers of windsurfing and other water sports.
On the inner side Zlatni rat is framed by fragrant pine forests, where there are several bars, restaurants and shop. Bol and Zlatni rat are favorite destinations for yachtsmen and excursion boats, so during the summer you can see a large number of sailing boats and catamarans.
