Nautic destination - island Vis

Mislav

One of the most popular islands as nautic destination while sailing in Croatia is certainly the island of Vis. The easiest way to get to the island of Vis if you rent a boat with or without skipper from Split or the surrounding area. Best or the nearest marina to island of Vis are: ACI Split, Marina Kaštela, ACI Trogir, Marina Kremik, Marina Frapa, Marina Agana i Yacht Club Seget.

Travelers and sailors who for the first time come to the island of Vis are enchanted by the gastronomic offer from which we must extract of local cake with sardines "Viška pogača", delicious fish and wine. For sailors and yachtsman and their good overall experience in any nautic destination very important is that destination has well-organized berths and this is on Vis impeccably organized.

Rich history that island Vis has is recorded in many books and can be noticed at every step, an old English towers and fortresses, abandoned tunnels and bunkers from the Cold War times, English cemetery etc. remind us of who wanted to be the owner of this paradise on earth.

The main destinations for boaters are of course places Vis, Kut and Komiža and also many bays around the island where you can anchor. For instance: the world-famous bay Stiniva, Stončica, Mala Trovna and legendary author, winemaker and chef Senko Karuza, Srebrna, Milna, Zaglav and do not forget the excellent lagoon Budikovac on the Eastern side of the island ..

City Komiža on the west side of the island is certainly one of the most charming cities in the central Adriatic. Here on the berths you can still jump in the clear sea next to the ship with which you arrived and be in the heart of old fishing town. You can also visit the museum of fishing, where you will see exposed forgotten old fishing tools and of course falkuša (old traditional fishing boat which fishermen paddled to the far island Palagruža and back).

If however you decided to spend the night in Vis harbor definitely use your free time to wander from Vis to Kut, or see the movie in summer cinema in the open.

Across the islands are famous restaurants, wineries and rural households which are simply must visit while you on the island. We would definitely recommend a restaurant Pojoda in Kut, rural household and winery Roki at the top of the island in the middle of vineyards in small place called Plisko Polje, than rural household Kod Magića, or if you are maybe on anchor in the bay of Mala Travna on south side of island we recommend that you visit Mr. Senko Karuza who will imperss you with his culinary skills.

We wish you a pleasant sailing, calm seas and good fun on the island of Vis ...
