The fractional rig offers configuration choices including a self-tacking or overlapping jib and a regular or in-mast furling main. The deck is clean and tidy, there is no danger of engulfment in ropes and sheets of sails because they are enforced through the channel below deck. The cockpit is spacious and comfortable enough for this size of boat. It has two steering wheels and winches on each side. At the center of the cockpit is positioned a wooden folding table with navigation plotter and ice box, and between it are two longitudinal benches with storage tanks below. On the aft, between the skippers' seats, is a small swimming platform.
Sun Odyssey 409 has three cabins, two aft and the owner's cabin in the bow, and two toilets. The kitchen is L-shaped, with two sinks, refrigerator with freezer, and two burners with oven. Salon has a U – shaped settee and wooden table with folding sides.
