Varaždin is situated on the edge of the Pannonian Basin in continental Croatia. Since the development in the middle Ages to the present, Varaždin has always been city which its residents and guests love and whom they admire and praise. It strongly attracts visitors and has always been considered as one of the most beautiful Croatian towns.
Significant period in the history of the Varaždin is period from 1756 to 1776 when the seat of government, Ban Generalship and the Croatian capital. Empress and Queen Maria Theresa established therein Croatian Royal Council - the first Croatian government.
Today, Varaždin’s region is one of the most developed regions in Croatia. Economic zones, development of small and medium-sized trades, high education, culture, tourism and many other examples show how Varaždin today is highly developed and prosperous town.
