Cavtat

Cavtat is a small town on the very far south of Croatian, in the Dubrovnik - Neretva County, 19 km southeast of Dubrovnik. Cavtat is the administrative center of the municipality Konavle. In the past, on the area of today's Cavtat, there was important Roman colony Epidaurus. The city was sacked and destroyed by the Avars and Slavs in the 7th century. Refugees from Epidaurum fled to the nearby island, Laus (Ragusa) which over time evolved into the city of Dubrovnik.

Population of Cavtat today mainly deals with tourism and hospitality and in small extent with fishing. From the cultural heritage of Cavtat is worth mentioning the house of the famous painter Vlaho Bukovac, the Mausoleum of the Račić family, Rector's Palace, Church of St. Nicholas and many others. The gastronomic and oenological offer of Cavtat is an integral part of the overall tourist offer, sentiment and the atmosphere of the Konavle region.

Cavtat is located near the Adriatic tourist road, and only 5 km from Cavtat is Dubrovnik airport Čilipi.
