The town of Šibenik is the main town, political, economic, social and cultural center of Šibenik-Knin County and historically oldest town in Croatia. It is located in the center of the Dalmatian region in the place where the river Krka plunges into the Adriatic Sea.
Šibenik is surrounded by national parks, nature parks and waterfalls. It is the oldest Croatian town with a very rich historical importance to visit. Cathedral of St. James, for their beauty, structural peculiarities and stylistic features, is not only the largest and most valuable historic buildings Šibenik, but it was in fact a unique monument of European sacral architecture, enlisted 2001 as World Heritage site by UNESCO.
The town of Šibenik can be the starting point for excursions to several natural wonders, canyons and waterfalls of the river Krka National Park, and the beauty of the National park Kornati islands looming offshore to the northwest. Up and down the coast from Šibenik runs a string of great places like Pakoštane, Primošten, Vodice etc. providing plenty in the way of early-morning-hours excitement.
