Island Molat

Molat is an island in the northern part of Zadar archipelago, located between Vir sea and the open sea of the Adriatic Sea in the northwest. The island's name comes from the Latin word mel, mellitus, which means honey, sweet as honey, and that kind of holiday Molat certainly provides. Molat is characterized by diverse and rugged coastline covered with dense pine forests and many beautiful bays and beaches.

Molat is daily connected to the mainland, with catamaran and ferry lines from Zadar. If you want to visit Molat with your own sailboat or yacht, to it, you can sail from the nearby marinas: marina Mali Losinj, ACI marina Šimuni, marina Kukljica, marina Zadar.

Molat is inhabited since the 7th century, but on the island were found the remains of flint objects from the Paleolithic. On the island there are three settlements; Molat, Zapuntel and Brgulje. Molat is the main place on the island, with two shops, a bakery, several restaurants, and private apartments that offer a wide range of accommodation. Jazi beach is one of the most beautiful on the island.

The main port of the island is Lučina, capacity of 36 berths with electricity and water. In the north part of island is bay Zapuntel, perfect anchorage for boaters because it’s protected from the winds. The sea around the bay Zapuntel is full of rocks and shoals, so requires much caution. The southeast part of Molat includes deep drawn Brgulj bay with cove Studena and islet.

Molat island is the perfect destination for those who want peaceful and relaxing holiday without modern achievements, for families with young children, for sport enthusiast and adventures.
