Syros is a Greek island located in the center of the Cycladic archipelago, about 80 nm southeast of Athens. Because of its excellent geostrategic position, Syros is the administrative, commercial and shipbuilding center of the Cyclades and indispensable destination during sailing the Aegean Sea. The main economic branch on the island is agriculture, which has in recent years increasingly in the shadow of tourism.

On the island there are two larger towns and several smaller settlements. The largest town and main port is Ermoupolis, which was named by Hermes, messenger of the gods from Greek mythology. Ermoupolis is a town amphitheatrically shaped, full of magnificent palaces and churches, picturesque houses and museums. Ermoupolis is connected to Ano Siros, a town situated on the hill above town. Ermoupolis port is not suitable for anchoring because of the large ships and ferries, so we recommend you to moor in the marina Finikas on the west side of the island or anchor in one of the island bays.

Syros is adorned with many beautiful and attractive beaches and bays, the most famous are Galissas, charming sandy beach on the west side, and Komito beach located on the south of the island. Near the town of Ermoupolis there is also a small airport which connects island with Athens and Thessaloniki.
