This program is the ideal next step for those looking to refine their sailing techniques, build confidence, and prepare for independent cruising or regattas.

Whether you’re working toward your ISSA Inshore Skipper certification, improving performance for racing, or preparing for longer offshore passages, this course combines theory with practical mastery.


You’ll Master

  • Sailing in all conditions – Confidently handle moderate to heavy winds.

  • Advanced manoeuvres – Tack and gybe precisely, reef afloat, handle spinnaker/gennaker.

  • Navigation & pilotage – Compass courses, passage planning, tides, and buoyage systems.

  • Emergency readiness – Safety drills, First Aid afloat, lee shore handling, night sailing.

  • Seamanship & maintenance – Knots, ropework, rig tuning, and onboard systems.

  • Regatta preparation – Crew coordination, downwind trim, and race tactics.

From day one, participants are part of every onboard activity — navigation, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, and watchkeeping.
By the end of the course, you’ll have sailed significant nautical miles, built endurance, and gained the skills needed for independent or competitive sailing.

Training takes place aboard our fully equipped Beneteau First 35, offering a truly dynamic sailing experience.

 


Typical Program Schedule

Arrival: Sunday afternoon or Monday morning – meet your skipper/instructor, settle in, and review the program.
Daily Routine:

  • 09:00 – 10:00 · Theory session

  • 11:00 – 18:00 · Practical sailing with lunch/swim break

Each day follows a rhythm of theory, sailing practice, and debriefing, ensuring constant progression and hands-on learning.


Yacht & Equipment

  • Training yachts: Beneteau First 35 (cruising)

  • Fully equipped with safety gear, navigation instruments, and modern sails like Spinnaker, Gennaker A2 and Code 0.


Skills and Knowledge Gained

Yacht Systems & Maintenance

  • Operate and inspect inboard engine systems

  • Check oil, cooling fluid, V-belts, and impeller

  • Identify rigging types and sail reefing systems

  • Use navigation electronics (log, echo sounder, GPS, AIS)

Advanced Sail Handling

  • Manage crew during hoisting, reefing, trimming, and sail changes

  • Perform tacks, gybes, and heave-to manoeuvres

  • Handle spinnaker/gennaker under various wind conditions

Anchoring & Mooring

  • Select safe anchoring spots and apply correct scope (4x depth rule)

  • Operate the windlass and anchor controls

  • Distinguish between anchor types and their applications

Safety & Emergency Procedures

  • Conduct safety briefings

  • Use VHF for distress calls

  • Perform MOB recovery under sail and power

  • Understand SAR procedures and First Aid essentials

Navigation

  • Read and interpret nautical charts

  • Plot positions using bearings and GPS

  • Understand magnetic variation and deviation

  • Apply IALA A/B buoyage systems

  • Plan passages and port entries using pilot books and almanacs

Meteorology

  • Read weather systems, fronts, and forecasts

  • Recognize cloud types and storm signs

  • Integrate meteorological data into passage planning

Seamanship & Environmental Awareness

  • Apply responsible, eco-friendly sailing practices

  • Maintain courteous conduct at sea and in harbours
